Why are there female sailors when the Navy🚢⚓ is strictly a man's job?

I respectfully disagree with you. I served in the Navy for 22 years. Women added a lot and, no, it want just their looks. On the physical side, they accomplished every job a man did. There wasn't a single time that somebody was slacking just because of gender. They brought extra smarts to the table in every facet of our Navy life and operations. They also brought a different perspective and often a different perspective provides an asymmetric advantage which can mean the difference between success and defeat. In short, women made our Navy better and made every command I was at better.

As for why not in the past, I'd offer that it wasn't bwcythey couldn't hack it, it's because they weren't given the opportunity. A woman could handle lines and sails and cannons we just never tried.

A country's military and defense establishment should reflect it's population, including gender.

firing those cannon... at three rounds every 5 minutes. The French could only manage one round every 4 minutes. So that was 12 rounds vs 5 rounds every 20 minutes. It was disappointing to the RN you guys could fire as fast rather than at the French rate.

I daresay a female crew wouldn't get off a single shot.

I just asked a question on the wisdom of the New Zealand Navy doing DEI Lesbian captain hiring because Yvonne drove her ship onto the reef she was meant to be surveying. She refused to go down with the ship when it sank of course. Fiona put a large gash in her ship whilst parking it. Still the female defense minister thinks they did a good job.
