Why do some women make small lies when telling you something?

Is this a type of test of them?

Why would they do that?

Were they trying to make me like them more (in a weird way)?

I've noticed that some women tell me some things about her and after a few months and/or maybe a year (a long time basically) they end up saying that is wasn't thing that she told you about it.

An example of how one of them went:

Me: What language do you speak besides English?

Her: Spanish but I only understand it, I don't speak it

*Fast forward a few months*

Me: Hey, did you heard what that guy said?

Her: No, I don't know Spanish?

I has happened just like this but more related to their personality, studies, etc. Why is this?

she probably wants to impress you, I once was talking to this guy and he said he hated Nicki Minaj and I said I hated her too even though I like her.
