Why did she change it up?

So, you don't really need the precursor to the convo, but, the girl I was just messaging, she said "well I'm going to be hanging out with a "girl" friend that recently moved , but is in town for a little bit". But when I questioned her about where the "girl" friend had moved to, she said "well, HE moved to myrtle beach, South Carolina and HE's been a friend since high school (over 10 years now)". I'm thinking, didn't she JUST say "girl" friend. Why did she change the gender of the person she's hanging out with.

Keep in mind, she's not the greatest typer, in the world, as I've seen some grammar mistakes but I never brought it up, since it wasn't important. But this, this just doesn't make sense. Why would she say "girl" then say "he"
