I don't know what to make of this - first time I've ever been turned down for being "too nice" ?

Seriously. I made it no secret to the guy that I work in medical, work with people with mental health issues, etc. so my personality would be by nature understanding, compassionate, etc.

He gave the impression he was looking for a decent respectable woman. He has summarized a dull lifestyle - doesn't do much over weekends, etc. - for few weeks chatting.

And tonight he makes some comment about me being "too nice" for him. Seriously.

It's more insulting than if he'd said I was too fat. Fat I can change. Personality isn't so easy.

Hard to interperate but my guess with absolutely zero context other than you told him where you work and that he rejected you for being "too nice" is that you're fairly progressive while he is conservative...

Progressives tend to be very empathetic, accommodating and take offense on the behalf of others.

Conservatives are a lot more rigid in their thinking, exhibit "tough love" and rarely engage in people pleasing.

I feel like you must have said something that went against his idelogical values as this is a very unheard of reason for a guy to turn down someone.

I've never heard of someone saying that before. You said he has a dull lifestyle... maybe he has self-esteem issues and doesn't think he'd be good enough for you? It could be that he's afraid you'll lose interest after getting together.

Can’t help you there. I have absolutely no idea what he’d be thinking. I’d never do that.
