So I am in 9th grade at a mostly white school, I am a person of color and have drastically different compared to 98% of my classmates. A certain group of conservative, apostolic, Lutheran, light skinned, blue eyes, light blonde haired, girls that don't wear pants. They always give this cold stare to me and my Japanese friend as well as the other 2% of people of color at my school. My friend says that: "Oh they must be jealous of our tanned skin color." or things like "I think its because we attract the good looking guys and they attract nobody, and confidence." Or could it be racism? I try talking to them but all I get is no response and just more staring from all 6-8 of them. I have done nothing to be rude or mean to any of them just wondering if any of you guys have any ideas why this could be happening. Thanks : )
there's 2 aspects of it.
1 being: kids are dumb and will treat people different, who look different
2 being: thinking that you're gonna be treated differently because of your color is very much a self fullfilling prophecy.

It can be either one, or both or none, maybe they just aren't used to seeing your skin color so they look.
It is a form bullying. Middle school and to a lesser extent high school is where most bullying occurs. By the 12th grade it will diminish and if you attend college, likely you will not experience it.
