Is she actually talking to someone or was she just not interested in me?

I asked a girl out who I've seen around for a few weeks and I asked her out on a date. She said yes and then i texted her the next day and this was the conversation:

Me: Hey is this ******? This is *******!

Her: Hey, yeah this is her!

Her: Also I totally told you wrong, I do work Saturday and then I have an appointment after at 3 :/

Me: Okay, no worries. Are you available later in the day? Perhaps in the evening?

Her: I'm not sure 🤔. Also to be honest, I am not interested much in dating!! There's someone else I am talking to and I don't want to lead anyone on.

Me: Alright, no problem. Thanks for letting me know!

Her: *liked message*

Her: Sorry for not telling you sooner

Me: It's ok, see you around!

I don't know if she just decided to not go out because she realized she wasn't interested and wanted an excuse or if she really is talking to someone. I'm also curious as to what defines "talking to someone else"?

I did something similar in my early 20s. The guy approached me in person and i said that I would be happy to go on a date with him because I didn’t know how to say no. Then I cancelled last minute because I was feeling guilty and didn’t want to face that I lied to him.

Another scenario: I said yes and met the guy. It was the worse date ever because I was rude ( also young and stupid) and he thought he had a chance. I simply wanted him to not like me and tried to prove it that I am not his type.

In both cases, I wasn’t interested at all.

It could be an excuse but what difference does it make? Either way she’s not interested in dating you.
