Is she interested in me or not?

There is a girl I really like and we always got on well and felt kinda close in the past when we worked together. However on the rare occasions we are out socially as part of a group it's like we are kinda distant or shy with one another.

I feel like she kind of doesn't look at me too much and I feel kind of shy with her too. Then I go kind of quiet in the group because I feel like the way I am or want to be (kind of outgoing and funny) starts to fade. Then she kind of just hangs with the rest of the girls for the rest of the night.

I can't tell if she is shy of me or doesn't know how to kinda talk to me. Or does she know I like her and isn't interested and trying to keep me at a distance? Or does she know I like her, likes me back and is waiting for me to do something and I don't do anything?

Any advice?
