Are Single Moms Viewed As "Easy" or "Desperate"?

A friend had a horrible break up with her child's father. She is now raising her child alone. Since then, she's been approached by a married friend (she's never dated him, ever) to meet for dinner for old times sake. She assumed it was just a friendly meeting until he "accidentally" called it a date. So after all these years of being just friends, does he think she's easy and/or desperate now that she's a single mom...enough so to want to "date" a married man?

i can't speak from THAT guy's point of view. but in my opinion no. women with kids are more protective who they want to see simply because they don't want a guy coming in and out of their lives, all while their kids see this. I've dated more women with kids (women my age will more than likely have kids) than those without ,and they know exactly what they want from what I've learned and experienced.

i'm a single dad, and I'd only ever date someone with kids because they seem to understand what I'm going through as well. and in a big way, I too know what I want and I don't want a woman coming in and out of my life. ironic isn't it? it doesn't set a good example in front of my kids_ so yeah.

Yes she is very protective of her children. Her front door is on lock-down to potential suitors. Makes dating very difficult for her, but the emotional and physical safety of her children are more important. Good luck in your single parenting. It's a really tough job, especially solo.

Single Moms are not 'easy' or 'desperate'. If anything, the exact opposite. It's the boys who think that single moms should be messed with that is causing the issues. They are trying to take advantage of a women who has to balance a lot more by herself.

Depending on the cause of the break-up, the single mom should be given even more praise. She will have to raise her child alone now, AND have to look for another special guy who has to take, what my soon-to-be-ex-wife likes to call, 'the total package.'

Too bad that married boy doesn't have his gentlemanly manners in place. She could stop seeing this boy for her to heal even faster!

I feel sorry for those who down voted me. Do you understand the difficulty of parenting a child by yourself? And, if the woman can balance being mom and a partner, you find me a woman more deserving of an awesome life.

sure an awesome life but not a partner a good man deserves a women that doesn't have kids if you can't see that then something is wrong with you

Well, then there is something wrong with me. I will hopefully be divorced after the hearing near the end of September. My soon-to-be-ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and our daughter will be with me Sunday night through Friday night, so I'm a weekday dad, and she's a weekend mom. So, would you consider a good woman to NOT deserve me? I think there's nothing wrong with anyone, and I have NO right to judge anyone, nor have any preferences.

We all deserve happiness, especially kids.

So what happened why you're divorcing, you seem like an amazing person? (Don't answer, if you'd rather not.) Just seems like you have a depth of genuine understanding and compassion that isn't often found, in men especially. Sorry guys.

Well, my ex didn't love me anymore. It was mainly a communication issue on her part. It was a caustic relationship for a few months before she decided to tell me she had moved on...after she had already moved on. It's a happy divorce, though. If you've seen Kung Fu Panda, I'm at peace like Master Shifu, to put it lightly.

Thank you for the humbling compliment. I hope to help others in pain - one of the main reasons I am on this site to stop heartbreak though honesty and empathy.
