As much as I’d like people to be kinder to one another, I also know that I have no control over how people feel or how they interact with others. The most I can do is be kind where I can and hope it rubs off.

Of course. I don't know why anyone wouldn't want something that is a positive change. I think everyone can do better in this respect. I know that I could. We are all guilty of just not caring enough somtimes. It seems to only be getting worse these days with people so divided on so many social issues. It makes it really hard when you try to have sympathy or compassion for someone only to have them throw it in your face. This question is a nice reminder to do better in my own life.

In some ways yes, in some ways no. Too much compassion like any emotion will blind you to reason.

We are literally creatures that kill and eat other living things just to survive. Even if you subsist off of animal by-products things die in the process to make that happen.

As a result, people just don't give a damn. The attitude is, 'The hell with it, everything's all screwed up anyway, so I'm just gonna worry about myself...'
