Why would I be offended. It is his child too. Now if you mean that it is only his and not mine then yeah I would be offended. I would prefer him call it our child but there is nothing technically wrong with him saying his child since it is his too. I guess a lot of it is going to do with context of how it is said as well as the intention. Lot of gray area in this question.
