Is my sister mean for telling our other sister that she can't be a godmother to her child because she doesn't have a job?

My sister told my other sister she didn't get her as a godmother because she doesn't have a job and can't give her son a gift thats why she chose another godmother who can give her son a gift

It also implies she is very materialistic and thinks godparents = gifts.

Only explanation thar might paint her in a better light would be if she said 'oh I don't think I'll make Sandra a godparent. She's such a giving person and I know she is strapped for cash atm as she isn't working. I don't want her to feel obligated. And Sally would also make a good godmother so I've chosen her'.

I'm guessing it's not like that though right?
