I certainly would never want to live in a house of my own and even less in a mansion. I can just imagine the costs involved in the upkeep, mortgage, incremental costs and other unforeseen expenditures. I am not even talking about the maintenance of the garden and lawn. A true nightmare that I am not willing to go through.

I am satisfied renting my apartment. It does not cost me an arm and a leg and if I decide to go on holidays, all I need is to put the key under the carpet and forget about the apartment. Try doing the same with a mansion. Good luck.

Well we live in a six bedroom/bathroom detached house in it's own grounds, but I wouldn't exactly call it a mansion... I would however call it our family home.

My husband who designed and built it is not here right now to ask, but believe in the past he's said that it's 6050 sq. ft.

Oh that’s the same as our house. 6000sq feet. Grand design, balconies, 2 gates, worth about £2mill. I consider ours to be a mansion. It’s also very famous in our area.
Is yours worth about the same?
