Missed birth control pill?

Roughly 16/17 days ago I missed 3 birth control pills in a row. Since this I have been bleeding for 13 days consecutively. I have taken a pregnancy test which was negative also, just as a precaution. I have started a new pack of pills a few days ago and i still seem to be having this long “period”. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I should do?

Oh man, missing those pills is always worrisome. But it sounds like you've been smart to take a test just in case, and starting a new pack. A couple things that may help:

- Talk to your doctor - they'll know best if the bleeding is normal from missing doses, or could be something else. No harm in checking!

- Give it some more time on this new pack - sometimes it takes a cycle or two for things to regulate again after messing up the routine. As long as tests are negative I wouldn't panic yet.

- You could try taking some ibuprofen to help with the cramps/bleeding in the meantime. Heat packs too.

- Stay hydrated and try to de-stress if you can. Being anxious won't help things.

Chances are it's just your body adjusting again, but a doc visit could ease your mind. Try not to worry - you did the right things testing and getting back on track. Hopefully the new pills do the trick soon! Let me know if it doesn't settle in another week or so. We'll figure it out, girl!

Oliverlogan263 gives good advice. The one thing I would add is don't assume the missed pills and the bleeding are connected, they may or may not be.
