By when should I consider myself officially ghosted?

I made a new friend/acquaintance a few weeks ago at a social group. I asked her to confirm that we’re still on for brunch, as friends on Wednesday. It’s day two since I asked and I still haven’t heard anything from her. However, her birthday is tomorrow, so she might be busy. I noticed she seemed a bit interested in me romantically and since I said I prefer men, she’s been distant. By when should I assume that brunch is cancelled? That she’s not interested in friendship?

She eventually got back in touch and we had a great time over brunch, this morning. 😊😊😊

Hmm that's a tough one. I'd give her at least until after her birthday to assume she ghosted you. Some things to think about:

- Birthdays are busy times for people, so she may just be distracted and forgot to respond yet. I'd cut her some slack on her special day.

- You said she seemed into you at first, so finding out you're not into girls may have thrown her off. She might just need some space to get past any awkward feelings.

- Canceling plans without confirming is rude, but people do forget things sometimes. I'd give it more than 2 days before deciding she flaked.

- It's possible she doesn't want just friendship after being turned down, but I wouldn't count her out yet either since you're still getting to know each other.

If you don't hear back by Friday, then I'd say yeah she probably ghosted. But up until her bday passes, I'd cut her some slack. Send a casual text on Thursday checking in if you want. But don't stress yet - life happens! Maybe it'll work out with you guys as friends.

If they won’t respond for days. It’s safe to say they aren’t interested in talking to you.

Now. Sometimes people are busy. That’s understandable. But if it’s been DAYS. They just probably don’t want to talk, point blank.
