I know, a controversial question, and perhaps even a stupid one, but I've come across this claim often enough on GAG and it's about time we settled this once and for all. I do know, however, that I myself am not in any way irresponsible. I don't owe money, never use credit to shop (always cash), don't gamble, have a lot of money saved up just in case, never date losers, avoid potential mugging spots (not that there are any in this town), and generally behave like an adult. I don't whinge and complain when a decision that I made backfires, nor do I try to shift the blame onto others. I own my mistakes. Can you say the same?

Some have here said that it's actually accountability that's the kryptonite, but the difference between accountability and responsibility is reasonably close to zero when it comes to, for example, owning up to mistakes.

I’ve never heard or seen that. I come across “accountability is women’s kryptonite”, and i agree. It is, of course, a generalization, but it’s not untrue.
You might understand when i suggest that i don’t believe you. There’s this thing that has been true about internet users since the very beginning. The anonymity of the internet allows us to pretend to be who or whatever we want. If you scroll through enough posts and comments, you’ll see that every woman claims “not all women…” and then goes on to give out their perfect resume. Just like you did. Meanwhile there are news reports, youtube videos, and thousands of anecdotal stories by men, embittered or not, that defy the pervasive online suggestion that women are perfect and men are just whiners. Ell oh ell!
To be fair, you have every right to be frustrated. If you stop for a beat and look around, you’ll see that men have been dealing with similar stereotypes for generations. “Men are always wrong. Women are always right.” Pervasive stereotypes of completely idiotic men on TV, married to flawless women who constantly have to bail their fellas out or forgive some nonsense. Movies about entire squadrons of fathers who can’t collectively figure out how to change a diaper or do a little girl’s hair. “My better half” is always a man talking about his wife. Women are always “out of his league”. Average men have been treated like second class citizens my entire life. Chances are it’s always just been a few bad actors, and a fair bit of hyperbole on the part of “embittered” women. But you wouldn’t know anything about that, cuz it doesn’t affect you, right?

I never have, and never would, make the claim that women are perfect, and I seriously doubt anyone else has either, up to and including the extremely rabid feminists who take their ideology way too far.

I pretty much have a live and let live attitude, although I’m unlikely to have a close friendship/relationship with someone who is consistently irresponsible and that includes family members. Key word here is consistently. I mess up too but do try my best to own up to and correct my bad choices. Having the ability to do that is probably my main criteria in people I become close friends with.

If you're an adult, you pretty much have responsibilities in general. Even I do. Mine is just doing housework, making sure I do my laundry, making sure I eat, drink enough water, and that I'm happy.

My guess would be the "embittered males" you mentioned are the guys who are now on the hook for child support, and the "responsibility" they're complaining about is contraception because now they're really fucked.

In general I see more irresponsible behaviour from guys aged 17-30 than from girls. They walk about like the world owes them everything simply for gracing it with their presence. Without exception, the guys I've met like this are second-generation one parent kids where the father was absent and the mother is bitter about it despite making it impossible for the dad to be involved. So they've never had a strong male role model to look to. Real life comes as a shock when mummy can't get them the job/promotion/loan they want.

Unfortunately, these pricks are hedonists that only know how to blame everyone else for the state their lives are in.

I'm seriously considering starting a course in masculinity without toxicity so these guys get to have a strong future where they actually have strong male role models after they finish the course they can stay in touch with like a kind of "Village Elder" group.

What do you think of the idea?

Well you have one heck of a resume from your description there if I was in Australia I'd want to date you! Because being responsible is a huge turn on. And if someone Lacks in that department it's such a turnoff. Men and women should be responsible if you are an adult. I love to have fun just like the next person but I can't sacrifice my responsibilities because I want to have fun. Got to have some kind of balance so I do like the old phrase all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. But the flip side of that coin is if you want to do all play and no work that makes you a lazy bum. That's my two cents

I'd say 50/50. It is true in part. I think the loud minority of women (which happens to be the ones most visible on YouTube and other platforms) do in fact lack any form of accountability and refuse to accept it as well. However most women are not like that. Best example all of the good women that support men's rights and push men's issues they all can and do take accountability if they make a mistake. True, and I can see the angry excuses headed your way from all the males on this site who believe that men are treated unfairly by family-court judges, and how they're presumed to be at fault in no-fault divorces, and... on and on, so on and so forth, and that that's why they usually don't get custody of the children.

Yeah, I've seen those comments, but since they are mostly anecdotal, I think it's more perspective than fact. I am not a man-hater by any stretch, I just think that there is more to back up women being responsible than not. That being said, this question is specifically addressing women being responsible. My opinion that women are generally responsible is not meant to imply anything about men. But you are right; some guys will take offense, and I appreciate the thumbs up!

Like self reflection, or how they could be better, or how their actions might affect other people, and if they feel bad for that.. It's basically saying that women are narcissist.. The internet is littered with stories from women telling on themselves their poor behaviour, poor thinking, and poor values. And meant more annecdotes from men that have had to deal with them directly.
