As a woman, I think it is extremely disrespectful and unscrupulous of a person to leech off another person's hard-earned financial assets for selfish benefits. The above is a discussion on a feminist subreddit and the sheer shamelessness and hypocrisy of the modern 'feminist has appalled me to the core. These women give such lame excuses like "women are programmed to choose the best for themselves" and "a woman deserves someone who can give her a good life" to justify their materialistic greed.
I mean, seriously? Feminism is about equality and enfranchisement of women so why are we upholding the patriarchal notion that it is the man's responsibility to 'provide for the woman? Why are we encouraging and even celebrating a woman's financial dependence on a man?
If a woman wants a good life, she has to earn it for herself. Nobody owes her anything in life and if she wants something, she must work for it rather than robbing resources that she does not deserve.”

It isn't a thing to be celebrated. But it is biologically hardwired into people at some level. Men procure, Women consume. Still, these sorts of dependence should only go ahead with the explicit consent of all involved participants. Nobody is owed anything.

Well, considering I am the woman he loves to distraction who loves him with equal or more distraction... and given that, by mutual agreement, I am in the home taking care of our sweet little children AND creating a peaceful and loving environment for him to return to each day... the material things he provides makes all this possible. He is proud of what he does for us. I am proud of what I do for us. I am so appreciative and in awe of the good life he provides for us, and I am unbelievably proud to be his wife and the mother of his children. Does that make me a gold digger, I wonder...

Why not? you can either have a financial dominance over another to gain sexual dominance or try and try hard to love one another. Best love experience I had was when we both fought hard to watch each other grow. She looked at me once and said i have your back no matter what. Cancer sucks

I may be old fashion but I don't think women should be completely dependent on men. Girls are weak for that very reason. We should not completely do away with tradition but it needs to adjusted. This is why girls get into and stay in abusive relationships. Not to mention that regardless of how much we try to always provide and protect -- failure is always around the corner. What if we get injured? What if something bad is happening and we're not able to get there?

When women do the majority of the work at home the men should definitely be financially stepping up so I don't see it as a bad thing especially since most men wouldn't be able to afford everything a woman can offer him if he had to pay individually for all the services she is providing him
