Girls, Would a girl avoid me if she is still interested in me?

There is a girl at my university that I see everyday that I would often catch looking at me. She would make it obvious and hold her gaze for a few seconds before looking away. She would also smile and quickly look away when we made eye contact from close. Over time she began completely avoiding eye contact when she passed by me and seemed nervous. I thought maybe she was shy so one day I said hi to break the ice. She smiled and seemed happy at the time. I didn't see her for about a week after because of vacation and since I got back she has still been acting nervous. The other day we were about to cross paths and she turned the other direction to avoid me. I don't want to bother her if she isn't interested but the sudden change from her previous behavior is weird

Well, first off anon is WRONG it did sound like the girl liked you. Girls don’t look at you for no reason repeatedly.

Second, it sounds like something happened. Maybe she got a boyfriend, maybe she saw you talking to some other girl, a lot of maybes. Another possibility is now that she knows you know that she likes her, it’s awkward now.

Try ignoring her back and see what happens. Just don’t even acknowledge her. If she really likes you she will start trying to get your attention once again.
