Why doesn't Belle like Gaston? Does she find any of his traits attractive at all?

He’s a narcissist, rude, full of himself, trying to force her to be with him, is mean to her dad, doesn’t share her interests (books/reading) and thinks books are stupid and even takes them from her. Basically he’s a bog mean bully full of himself and has no respect for anyone else, including her and her father.

True, but he's also handsome, brave, strong, a famed (and thus presumably skilled) hunter, and willing to take charge to lead the village in confronting what appears to be a dangerous monster (insofar as that "taking charge" consists at first of locking her in a building to stop her from interfering, it's understandable that she wouldn't like that- but he thought she had Stockholm syndrome from being the Beast's hostage), which are traits many women would find appealing. Belle? Not so much, especially when paired with the negative ones he demonstrates (and being dumb as a fence post, too).

The real question, to my mind, is: what about Belle interested Gaston? Well, that and "why does the witch who not only cursed an eleven-year-old boy, but his entire innocent staff of servants, get off scott-free?", but that's a question for another time. Belle is pretty, yes, but so are other women in the town who throw themselves at him. Is she just alluring to him because she resists his charm, or is there something deeper?
