I would understand it for women who want to prevent a child, but for period pain? Idk…

There is Ibuprofen for that. 🤔

I've noticed this too.

Doctors push BC on women for everything like acne to heavy periods.

I compare it to the overprescribing of anti-depressants. I don't think the doctors get paid for it directly, but I really think there is some motivation to prescribe drugs and hormones like crazy.

Like, look at this blood pressure stuff. I looked up what they tried to get me on and it causes more damage than it helps over a matter of just a few years... which means more meds... oh, and more meds for the limp dick it would cause.

I'm to the point of saying fuck these so-called medical professionals. And I know some dip-shit will try to defend them and I have nothing but a big "fuck you" because the doctors I've dealt with can't be bothered with Wikipedia or a basic Web-MD search to even know as much as I do about their fucking drugs.

Anyways back to whamen and the birth control prescriptions. They don't just stop with real women. Convincing a homosexual he's a woman is like a gold mine for medications/hormones and procedures.

Hormonal birth control makes a woman's body think it's always pregnant. This prevents us from releasing an egg, except when the placebo pills are taken once a month so we can have our periods.

The problem with this is that our emotions, and affections are also tied in with out hormones, so that we aren't as horny, and/or man-crazy as we normally would be when our bodies are ready to make a baby.

What that means is that a lot of women are more or less permanently uninterested (or just less interested) in sex.

It also makes us bloated, as the female body needs to collect lots of water to start a baby growing. So in order to stay sexy, a lot of us starve ourselves to keep the belly off.

On the plus side, our boobs do swell a bit because of it.

So if you want an angry, aggressive bloated woman, look for one on hormonal birth control.

because ibuprofen, paracetamol, and other stuff didn't work. I was told it would be better after the first pregnancy. I gave birth to three kids and still was dying for three to four days every month. And it's no exaggeration, I couldn't move, and even going to the bathroom was like torture. mini pills helped because they stopped my period totally. As long as I take them regularly, I'm free from the unbearable pain...

Bodies mismanaging hormones is pretty common, bad periods (including severe cramps) can be a part of that, birth control manages your hormones so that those effects are no longer as prominent. And there's a ton of research saying that most common forms of birth control do not have a significant effect on your fertility in any capacity (the fertility thing is really an urban myth and has been debunked several times over).

If you're consistent with taking it, then it is unlikely to harm you (though there are a few people that are incompatible with hormonal birth controls for various medical reasons).

it is given as an option for - excruciating and crippling pain- which are extraordinary health issues and not just "period pain"

the kind of pain that will debilitate you and interfere with your every daily life activities too, and in most cases women are NOT quick to take that option nor all doctors are keen to recommend it... and a lot of that is because of very wrong and not informed ideas about these available options

Period pains can be really bad, I’ve talked with a lot of girls who struggle to even stand due to the pain they experience. Over the counter drugs for pain like Ibuprofen don’t work for some people.

The point of birth control in this instance is to help regulate their hormones which helps minimize the pain experienced. What many women nowadays are experiencing are hormonal imbalances due to all the processed foods we eat. An imbalance in hormones can cause a lot of different problems many resulting in extreme pain and emotional instability among other things.

While I personally still don’t agree with taking BC, especially for what you brought up being The fertility issues in the future, I can also understand why they do it.

2, those who feel strong pain monthly, try to stop the periods to avoid pain.

3 when she stops the pill she again ovulates and can get pregnant.

4, studies show b. c. pills increase b. c. risk as apple mentioned here, around 10% more likely, if used b. c. and the risk increases the longer time she uses b. c. like 20-40 more depending how long.

but i guess if the pain of menstrual cramps is very intense , and the head ache type doesn't help enough, they feel b. c. is the only option.

I had intensely heavy, painful and irregular periods when I hit 13.
they made me insanely suicidal and antisocial/hating life. codeine and such were short term but useless solutions...
Birth control helped me with that. ALL female birth control save condoms are essentially hormones so yes, it technically messes with the "natural" ones.

You’re not totally wrong that a lot of BC has major side effects, but it helped me in the long run. Once my cycles were back to normal, I stopped taking it.

Our team doctor offered to set us up with birth control for the purpose of enabling us to not have a period during soccer season.

Been doing that ever since and only have 4 periods a year.
