So technically men also use contraceptives - a condom.
As for the birth control pill there are two answers. I'll keep them fairly short and you can ask if you want more context.
1. Male birth control pills were experimented with. However due to limited research and the fact that the trial for then included people outright killing themselves - among other severe side-effects - the big push for a male pill was discontinued. Some research on it has still happened.
2. Ultimately men taking one would not mean much for women. Women in general would not want to trust that the man has responsibly taken them given if the man had not, she'd be the one pregnant. In that sense, it is not a question of men taking it instead but men also taking it. And for that notion, condoms are generally more reliable and accessible.
Lastly as a bonus, there are less harmful ways for men to do it. You can for example snip a small part and become completely unable to impregnate anyone. Research in this would generally be better. It is typically reversible but not always. Making it always reversible this would be the new male go-to. But for the sake of trust, disease and alike condoms would still be the main choice for all involved.00 Reply

Well birth control was originally designed to mimic hormonal changes during pregnancy by keeping estrogen levels on the lower end as they are before and after pregnancy (skipping the skyrocketing estrogen levels that happen while ovulating / pregnant). Lowering testosterone in men, which a good portion already have low T problems, leads to all kinds of health issues, autoimmune conditions in particular.
There's more research being done such as developing methods that suppress / block sperm production. We'll all be popping the pill soon. I know I will when it becomes available because I hate condoms and won't ever get snipped.

1 yBesides male condoms & vasectomies, there have been efforts of trying to make contraceptives for men. I think I've heard that they were trying to make like a shot & then the man wouldn't have to get another one until 13 years later. Or I know my sister said there were rings that would restrict the sperm from coming up, but I have no clue if those are out yet or how effective they are. But yeah, it's hard to make contraceptives for men & their bodies. Hopefully years from now they'll have something that works & men can dig in to help protect themselves & their partners, but until now we just wait.

1 yAbsolutely agree with the sentiment.
Condoms is a great way to protect against pregnancy, and also protects against STDs and such.
I would say though, even though I find it vital we also see how to make more option for birth control, also for men, I wouldn't fully trust the man to take it or do it correctly.
It's still the woman who ends up pregnant.00 Reply

1 yThis is a very good question. Men would be highly motivated to be sure they can have sex without fathering children. The problem for men is the solutions are surgical or barrier.. one carries risk and cost one impacts the sex itself decreased sensation and it kind of breaks the moment. If there was a hormonal treatment or an implant that made men temporarily sterile. It would would be a drug company license to print money.
05 Replylife itself is a risk, man up.

So is a tubal ligation why don't more women do that? Laproscopically done out patient? Probably safe as vasectomy. Yet most women don't. Because they want a relatively safe easily reversible birth control that they can stop without major surgery to reverse it. Once that is available I am certain more men will be on birth control than women and it will be a rich.
oh trust me, many women want to. but many doctors refuse to do one except the woman has kids and her husband aproved. and there's also a long ass list, my mom has been on it since 2015. a tubal ligation isn't a 100% reversible surgery tho?
- 1 y
Yes it's true neither procedure vasectomies or ligations are 100% reversible. That is part of the problem. The only real difference is you can bank sperm cheaply and freezing eggs is expensive.. I think we agree in principle that women shouldn't be the primary source of birth control. Men need better choices.
yeah thats what im sayinh
1 yBecause women are the ones to get pregnant. At the end of the day women are the ones that have to deal with the consequences of unprotected sexual intercourse.
414 Replyso men should js leave without any type of responsebility?
- 1 y
Men aren't the ones who are going to have to carry a child for six months or push something the size of a water melon through their vagina.
but they’re gna take care of it, since he's a father.
- 1 y
Maybe finacially if you are lucky, maybe he might help you raise it but as the mother it's still going to be you that effectively has a parasite growing inside her for 9 months. As a woman when it comes sexual intercourse with a man you've got to be 100% responsible for contraception because the guy might make a mistake putting a condom on or it may tear or he may pull out but ultimately you are going to be the kne left holding the baby not him.
I've had a baby and let me tell you it was not easy, my partner was very caring all through but his responsibility and mine were very different. or maybe both should take responsebility? lets not act like men r babies
- 1 y
Again they aren't the ones that's going to carry the child, or give birth. Have you ever pooped in front of strangers? How about being cut down there and require 3 stitches to help the baby come out? How about all that pain and having to push? How about wearing thick maxi pads for a week as the after birth is stilling coming out? Or being barely able to move after giving birth? Or having to wait two months until you heal down there for sex? Or carrying the child as every month you become more and more incapable?
No men don't have to go through it. Never rely on a man for this even one with the best intentions. Take personal responsibility because if you get pregnant unintentionally there will be no use pointing the finger at the guy who impregnated you, he will just shrug his shoulders.
Men can be massive babies, especially at a young age ik what giving birth is and the concequences, but im talking ab the before.
- 1 y
Exactly before. If you rely on someone else to be responsible for something that's going to hugely impact your body and your life, may even end your life then you are asking for trouble
obviously?
- 1 y
@Paige90 I wouldn't bank on it. Its up to women to take full responsibility for our reproductive rights because we are the ones that will endure the burden of children.
- 1 y
@Paige90 if you read the rest I'm sure i also said 9 months
1 yYou know, they did make a birth control pill for men once. The side effects included bloating, mood swings, depression, anxiety, irritability, and cramping. The research was discontinued because it was considered “inhumane.”
22 Replylmao what? thats like 1/5 of a page of the side effects for womens birth control💀 thats literally nothing
Yeah, you can see the influence of the patriarchy in the medical community very plainly
2.7K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Condoms and Vasectomy's are a form of birth control however the latter is permanent so I wouldn't recommend that one.
But the main reason is that men can't get pregnant birth control is largely for the person at risk of getting pregnant.

1 yI love this question. It's as if your fighting for female rights but actually it's male reproductive rights you're fighting for. Would I like to take a pill that sterilized me? Hell yeah I would. Go invent it, 16 yr old feminist.
02 Replyits alr been invented men were js too much of a pussy to try it bc of the side effects (basically every side effect normal bc has)
- 1 y
That's somewhat misleading. From what I understand, it wasn't approved because of regulatory concerns, mostly that the researchers weren't sure if its effects could be reversed.
I recall the male one being extremely dangerous to our health, birth control pills are also not good for women but less bad and it should be temporary. But its the guys who wear and carry the condoms usually.
06 Replythat could go for opposite genders too
so child support is not a thing for men? or responsebility? not surprising
dna tests r easy
1 yBecause he can run away once he’s done achieving his goal ( many say every hole is a goal) and I’m sure it’s not every woman’s goal to let everyone plant his seed in her soil. Also because we have a uterus and keep the baby inside us while he can leave and you become the hated single mother for no fault of yours. So he committed a sin with you but biology makes you pay for it. Having a uterus comes with a big responsibility.
00 Reply652 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. If all women relied on men to be responsible for not getting them pregnant, there would be twice as many pregnant women and babies getting born. Women often have sex with guys who will not stick around to be a good father, so she better protect herself.
00 Reply1.9K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Back when a hormonal male birth control pill was offered to men, they refused to keep taking it because if side effects. The same ones we have to deal with.

Would you trust some guys when they tell you "of course I took my birth control pill!" I think it may be best for women to be consistent and take responsibility for their own bodies in this case.
04 Replyso how do u trust women to take them?
- 1 y
Well women want autonomy for their bodies. I support this. But with this responsibility its only reasonable that women are responsible for their own birth control. With great power comes great responsibility lol Now if a woman chooses not to tell a man she is not using birth control or lies that she is that is a question of ethics not responsibility.
so its wrong when a woman does it but its expected when a man does it?
- 1 y
Not at all. Both are wrong. But if women want control of their own bodies then also controlling when they choose to become pregnant comes with the territory. If women wish to control the choice to have an abortion then in my opinion for consistency they should also control when they get pregnant as well.
I think it's because the only reliable birth control a man can use is a condom whereas there numerous methods that are approved by the FDA for females.
10 Reply363 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. My guess is because condoms suck and most of us men hate them , me personally ended up having a vasectomy because I don’t want to make more babies , the 3 that I have were enough lol

1 yI suppose it depends on who is responsible for the pregnancy and who is allowed the most control over it.
01 ReplyThe person with the most say over a pregnancy is the one that is ultimately responsible -- the leader, if you will. If that's men, then men should be most responsible over birth control. If it's women, then women. If it's split, both.

015 Replyim alr on it and have been for 2 years, nothing new for me. js wondering why men dont, since they’re the ones who produce the most.

Because like I said, it’s not programmed to make males infertile.
its 2025 we can do anything, and actually there was a birth control for men, but men were too much pussies for it

It would take away our sex drives. Men and women are different
what makes u think that? and how is that bad?
- 1 y
To take away our sex drives? You can’t be serious How are relationships w/o sex work then? Women view sex as highly as men do
ah yes cuz thats the only thing men think about. women can initiate sex
- 1 y
Women think about that too. Why do you ladies want men do be physically attractive? My point right there. But then again you’re young. So you don’t know much
ofc u gotta point out ”oh but women do it too” like bro stfu. im not talking about women u retard. i dont want men so i can't answer that. so u knew nothing at 16? seems like a skill issue

they're allowed to do that yeah, if that's what they want to do, that's their right. its our responsibility to look after our body. if they don't want to take precautions that's on them. maybe they'll get a careless woman pregnant, and then she'll keep it. then they'll have to learn from their bad choices. but it's on every individual to protect themselves. so, if you don't want a baby, you protect yourself. Also, a condom is a birth control as well.
this is why im never having sex, and getting rid of my uterus
u can see my age. whats so bad about it?
- 1 y
ahhh, i see. i'm 24, i was your age once, i thought what you thought once too. as you get older, you'll realize that all you can do is be responsible for you, that you can't expect anyone else to look out for you. You have time, and time to figure things out. take your time, sex is a great thing when you're with the right guy, trust me. And when you're older, you'll be in love, and want to make a baby from that love. Trust me, just hold your horses, things make sense, try not to make any permanent decisions in your youth. all the best.
good for u, and if im raped? thats what im talking ab. and no offense, but u can't really trust men. if i got pregnant any man would leave. i hate kids, if i got pregnant id literally light myself on fire, im getting rid of my uterus
sorry that happened, im assuming u want kids. i dont.
- 1 y
And you can't trust women either.. take it from me, my mom had to vouch for that. truth is, you can't trust most PEOPLE. but you will find the right ones. You're younger than me, don't you think maybe, i've been where you've been? I have. I've said the words you're speaking. things change. Your perspective changes, you may think you have all the answers, and there's nothing left to figure out. trust me, I've been 5 different people between where you are, and where I am now. And I will likely be 50 different people in the future. You are young, you still have a lot of learning to grow. Men are not so bad, you just need to find the right ones.
well a woman can't get me pregnant can she? well thats YOU, we’re not the same person. yeah no, I've heard way to many stories to ever trust a man.
- 1 y
I can see you're still too immature to listen, again, I was you. You''ll figure it out hopefully. But right now, look in the mirror, no man is saying hurtful rude things about women on here, but you're being the bully. something to think about. Men have feelings too, they're human, try not to be so angry with the world, these are growing pains.
yeah but u werent, since we’re not the same person. everyone develops differently. im not gna be u in 10 years the same way u werent me 10 years ago. oh god, only if u knew. I've seen men saying awful things ab women on here. ah ok so i should let it slide when they say they wanna fuck a 16 yr old? which is basically 90% of what they say. stop acting like they’re angels.
- 1 y
Hun, I've been raped. not all men are angels, but you're coming from a very extreme place, it lacks true understanding of the world, you're far too young to know everything yet, and I am older, I have been through more. Not that age defines this, but I most likely have. I've seen a lot of things, and I've lived almost 10 years longer, my brain is fully developed, I've lived through my teen years all while being homeless and enduring abuse. I was far more angry than you. So no, you're not me, but yes, I do know more. My view is more mature, I've had lessons you haven't learned yet, I know this, because again, I have literally said exactly what you're saying. You just haven't seen the other side yet. Why don't you take a seat, calm down, take a breath, and use that brain of yours you have. Think of the words I'm saying, I'm older, i've been where you have, and I grew up. I don't know everything but I do know more, and someone older than me will come along and teach me things too. So, keep your uterus, it's precious.
ah yes so i should js find a man and become a submissive wife for the rest of my life and have 7 kids? id rather live my own much safer life without a man
- 1 y
Oh you're so wise and experienced, look everyone she's such a big tough girl with all the answers! Honestly, stop with the tough girl act, you're so so young, it's precious. You're naieve. You'll learn what life is about on the way. A man and a woman can work together, and truly, there is only one leader. Sometimes the man is, sometimes the woman is. The man leads the finances and he takes care and protects his family, a man leads his family to glory and a comfortable life. He shows them the way and guides them. A woman guides her children, she helps them grow and she guides them through love and support, she can also guide her husband to know peace, and can guide him in many other ways. Being "submissive" is not a dirty word. I again, used to think the way you do, then I found a man who I actually want to "Submit" to. I want to love him and I want him to succeed, I want to be able to be soft and venerable with him. I like that he's strong and that he protects me and provides for me. He teaches me a lot, every day. I hope one day you find a love like that, and I think you will. would you rather have a little bitch follow you around like a dumb puppy?
sure ik how life works, and i also know that it won't workout for me. i work better alone, always have always will, i get annoyed when i have to work with anyone else. u are ur own leader, u dont need someone else to. personally, i want to work and make money. ur acting like ur a clueless little girl and he's an older guy who knows everything, u see nothing wrong with that? i would kms if i found love like that, id prefer if nobody followed me, im my own person and so is everybody else.
- 1 y
HA that's what I always said, and I made a lot of money, and got really huge scholarships. I can make my own money easily, and often in any situation, I'm the leader, and I never listen to people, unless, of course, they can lead better than I can. I'm not some arrogant person who thinks she's better off alone, been there done that. I was miserable, and after a while, it gets terribly sad. For a long time I played that role, I believed I was better alone, and liked it. Turns out, it only hurt me. I know if we broke up I'd make my way and be fine. But i trust him, he had to show me, and convince me, and knock down a lot of walls to show me I could put my faith in him. But I'm so happy I did, now I have a partner.
ok good for u, but ik im better off alone, other people piss me off. ok you realise how YOU were miserable, as I've said now, i am not YOU we are different people and we work differently. not every woman wants to have a family. ok good for u that u got the life u wanted, but i dont want that life, and u need to respect that.
i do tho, check in 10 years and you’ll see that i was right, ik myself better than anyone else will?
