Girls, From the makeup to the breakup, why do women lie?

Ladies! Last week I asked the guys "Why do men lie?" and now it's your turn up at bat. Why do women lie?

From covering blemishes with makeup all the way to making a polite exit to ensure a clean breakup, many women tell "little white lies" or just choose to coverup little "blemishes" in their lives, personalities, etc. Don't you think that will ultimately affect the quality of your relationships -- that the people who choose to be with you will be disillusioned and leave?

Some women don't subscribe to this mode of thinking (that lying is harmless and acceptable), of course, and I'd like to hear from you ladies as well bc "no bs" is my personal stance and expectation from both the guys and the girls in my life... It can seem like a harsh standard, I know, but this way both you and your friends/SO know where you stand in each other's lives.

Exactly, no BS. I and my SO are open books with one another. If you can't be 100% honest with me, then there's the front door, goodbye. No relationship if not trustworthy.

most likely the same reason anyone lies in any given circumstances:

1, to get the job (girl / guy / house), under the assumption of "get in first, deal with problems later".

2, deep insecurity - fear they won't be accepted as they are, which let's be frank, is often the case (especially when you mention appearance / makeup).

3, to deliberately trick someone.

I think 3 is quite rare though, usually it's 1 (wanting someone / something so much that you will do anything to get it, even if it's morally questionable) or 2, plain insecurity.

That’s more of a man’s fault if he doesn’t expect skin flaws from someone that wear heavy make up. Common sense.

I mean I only put on mascara and eyeliner so my eyes don't look so naked and cover up any blemishes because they're ugly. In my previous relationship, I can't think of a time when I lied, honestly. I'm very open and honest, and quite frankly I find it exhausting to lie. I don't like keeping secrets and I'm not a good liar either. If I ever did tell a small lie, it always came to light later on.
