Depends whether you're being traditional or modern. Im a housewife that stays at home with our kids, i cook and clean constantly, but i also have my own small business, my husband is a minor who earns a lot. We have been married 12 years and he's never made me
pay for anything, even at the start... (now all our earnings go into the same account even though my wage is just a quarter of his. Id say as long as its communicated and your putting something on the table then all should be ok! Modern/young relationships seem to be different and everything seems to be equal (even though women also cook clean and raise children on top of working, they never seem to be treated) My friends partners seem to be pretty equal and pay half of the rent each. Which is great but it doesn't make my girlfriends feel too great when she is asked to front the bill when they go out to a restaurant. My husband has even reversed roles and i have worked and he's a been stay at home dad (but in my head its our money, not mine) so i couldn't sit here and say that 'i payed for everything' because now roles are reversed and he's taking care of our family.

I don't want men to pay for me. I have been working since I was 16 years old. Now I have a good job and a career, so I can afford to pay for it and even for it anywhere. I hate male dominance, so it will be even a slight insult to me if he wants to pay for me. Although the option when he pays for me, and then I pay for him is acceptable for me.

Men just sometimes like to take care of their women, and women should take care of their men. We all work and have careers thats a normal part of life.. but when you grow and have kids and a marriage and want to spend time with them (actually be a good mother and wife) sometimes we cannot work as much as our husbands and choose to be the one to hold fort at home (dads can also do this) (this is where you can 'if you want' take it easy and allow your man to take the lead). If you know a husband is a tight arse, it doesn't help your cause. Some men will be happy with this and love taking care of you and the kids while your off work! and some won't. A lot of women these days have to be equal to men but the fact is that most women don't earn as much as men.. and that is sad. But you definitely should not judge other women or yourself for being payed for by a husbands or boyfriend, as some women want to spend more time with their children and husbands when they are home from work! or don't earn as much! or are unemployed at that time in their lives! I am not talking about being sixteen.. i'm talking about in a more grown up relationship (after the first date)

My husband and me share an account, Im pretty sure If we sat around saying i pay this and i pay for that.. we wouldn't be together.

It depends on how you behave and who your partner is. Some people still doing that as well, husband work outside wife work at home. The world is not the size of your palm.
