If a woman decides to never get married her whole life and never has kids do YOU assume there is something wrong with her?

I just wanted to cut to the heart of this 'childless cat lady' meme and ask what its really saying.

So lets say there's a woman, she's possibly single but she's not married and may or may not have cats or pets of any sort. She has no kids. She might even proclaim she doesn't even want any children and also could get married but simply chooses not to.

Upon hearing this do YOU the listener or reader assume there is just something wrong with them?

Yeah there clearly is something wrong with her. she's neglecting her 'role' as a woman by not being a dutiful stay at home wife to a husband, and becoming a mother taking care of the kids of a huge family at home

I can't really criticize a woman in this position. I'm 32, single and it seems like I won't have kids. I would like to get married and have children but I'm not seeing that happening.

For most of us marriage is a choice and some people choose to not get married. There's nothing wrong with that. As long as they're okay with their decision, it's all good. Besides marriage isn't for everyone.

So, no I would never assume that there was something wrong with her. It's her life, her choice. What matters is what she thinks, not what society thinks of her.

RETARDS (yes retards because I don’t care anymore) seem to forget that it can be someone’s choice to have children or not. Some women cannot have children in general if they had a health issue that prevented them from getting pregnant (i. e. PCOS, uterine cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, etc). Also not every woman who’s childless have cats or smelly pets in general.
