Would you be upset if your son/daughter didn’t want kids?

I would be pretty angry. I would’ve spent and given so much trying to give them the best education and raised them just to not grow the family any further. I know when I’m 60 I’m gonna want a ton of grandkids. My legacy!

You also don’t even hear of people regretting having a child.

I’m sure most parents find it difficult and frustrating. But regretting having your own kid, I doubt that. Like I have a niece that is a nightmare to look after but he’s still so cute

People don't (usually) regret the kid they brought into the world, they regret everything that came with it like the financial & time commitment, maybe lost the chance for a better life for themself bc they had to quit education or job to care for child. Maybe stress broke relationship apart & they lost love. Maybe they wanted to travel or to move to a different country, & now will never be able to afford it until maybe when they're old. Maybe they just didn't want kids. That doesn't mean they don't love their kids & are very happy they're here, just means they regret that they had to be the ones to do it & how that changed their life.

Anyway for your question I would be a little sad if my daughter decided to not have kids, but I wouldn't be mad. It's her life & her choice just like it was mine. & out of my friends & relatives I bet someone will have more babies when I'm old, so it's not like there won't be any new kids to meet or help take care of or just hang out with when I'm old. Just won't be official grandma, will be grand aunt or "aunt" parent's friend or something. 🤷‍♀️

Naturally everyone wAnts to see grand kids growing up. Also instinct nature to want grand kids. But upset because:

Nah, it's not their responsibility to provide me grandkids. I'm not owed that. Who cares about legacy either? My main goal as a parent is to ensure my children are happy and safe and if that means they don't have kids, then that's fine. If I really want a baby or kids to spoil then I'll just adopt one. Lots of kids need homes.

I'm probably not getting kids myself.
But if I did, it wouldn't anger me.

My job would be to make sure my kids would be happy with their life, and to grow up as people who would be true to themselves.
So as long as they know it's for the best for them, I could never be angry at that.

First off, I know people who regret having kids. Many parents do, they're just socially shamed into not saying it.

Secondly I wouldn't give a shit. I'd be pissed if they had kids they didn't want to begin with.

Nah if anything I'd be shocked if they didn't have any kids just because I have 5 so chances are pretty high that one of them will have a kid

Their choice in life, I would be selfish if I was upset but I would be curious to know why, maybe my way of raising them made them make this decision
