Nope. Housing cost is primarily driven by demand for housing in specific locations. There is a fixed amount of land in every location, but a bunch of people for some reason want to live in the same location. When more people want houses than there is land for houses, competition occurs and that drives prices higher. So they have a choice, either they go to war and kill off the people that currently live in the location so that they can take over territory, or they pay more than the next guy to claim ownership from the previous owner. Everyone has a price and they will leave if offered the right amount. The simple solution to high housing prices in a particular area is just to move to a different area. Go where people aren't with other people and build a community and an economy.

If you were to hand over control of the real estate market to government, then government chooses war rather than a market solution. They favor their party members and then they forcefully displace the opposition to ghettos before they eventually send them to death camps to dispose of them. Will the housing be affordable to loyal Nazi party members? Sure once you remove all the Jews, Christians, disabled, etc. If you kill everyone you don't like there are plenty of houses for those that remain. That's how socialism works where government controls everything. You kill your adversaries and steal their things until there is no one left to kill and rob.

Decent people would just pay the price if they are determined to live in a specific area, or move and pay a much lower price in some location with less demand. If they wanted even lower prices, they would learn basic residential construction skills and build their own home for a fraction of the cost. But lazy people are always looking for the easy way out and just want to kill and rob the people they don't like via socialism.

The crisis is real. There is a shortage of affordable housing because in many areas it is no longer to build affordable homes profitably. The government will never be able to supply enough affordable housing in desirable locations to satisfy demand. The best they can do is make sure that everyone has enough income to be able to live somewhere.

How can they do that? There are millions of people who paid big bucks and a lot of interest on their houses. Does that mean they should get refunds so theirs can be free too? Whenever the government gets involved there will wind up being a lot of people screwed over, especially taxpayers. Can you imagine illegal immigrants getting free houses when our homeless live in tents or shanties on the streets? They sure aren't getting the help that the illegals are getting. It would be like the student loan fiasco. Only certain people would get help while others suck eggshells. I sure didn't get any of my student loans forgiven. 😟 Besides, with hurricanes and money being dished out to every country on Earth, where would they get money to offer free houses? This is what we would probably get.

No. The government can’t even help people in North Carolina right now w the situation they’re in. The gov’t sends billions of dollars overseas to help other countries but our own. Illegal immigrants are being taken care of first before US citizens. Gov’t should have minimal control of what we do as everyday individuals. You start to depend on the gov’t too much you’re at their mercy. Exactly why are you asking this question? Having trouble w housing?
