Why a girl is shy to mention she’s married?

I was talking to my barista last night.. she’s caught me checking her out on a few occasions which ended with a flirty smile, but we haven’t taken it any further than that. We were chatting about backpacking across Europe and she casually asked me about whether I’d be traveling with my partner. I mentioned I’m single for a few months so this would be a solo trip.

Eventually I asked her if she’d consider a solo trip (not inviting her to join me nor asking her out or showing any romantic interest) … and she suddenly became very shy, broke eye contact and very shyly mentioned she’s married... What does it mean when she reacts in this way? Is she embarrassed about her marriage or is it something else?

It could be her boss told her to hide her relationship status cause single girls generate more sales than taken girls. I know two girls who used to work at the same restaurant and their bosses told them to lie about being taken cause more guys will eat the restaurant if they think the girls are single.
