Why do women announce the exact thing they have to do before heading to the bathroom?

31m here, and even at this age, I STILL hear women do this... "Hey guys, I have to pee... I'll be back!" Stuff like that.

I'm not making fun of this, but I just don't get it, why not just say "I have to go to the bathroom, be right back!" we still will know where they went in case something happens, if that's the goal (excluding scenarios where they are trying to escape a bad date or something like that).

It might just be me personally, but I've never heard other guys do that unless they are trying to purposefully gross out a buddy or something.

I honestly don't know a single girl that does that. I live with one too. My girlfriend never tells me what she is going to do in the bathroom. She just goes and does it. Same with me. I don't feel the need to announce anything. Perhaps when I was a child I did that to inform my parents but I can't think of another time that I have. I don't even tell people that I am going to the bathroom unless I am out to eat and need to politely excuse myself rather than people thinking I just walked off. Even that seems a bit much to me. Of my friends that I hang out with and come over to our apartment I can't think of a single time that one of them announced to the group that they are going to pee. They just get up and go use our bathroom and come back. We are smart enough to figure out what they are doing.

Perhaps it's the ones that I've personally known, or maybe just the area I lived in, maybe? Just a few days ago, I was at a Giant Eagle doing some food shopping and a group of young girls walked by, probably high-school graduates or maybe 1st semester college-age, and i literally heard one of them announce "i have to peeeeeee..." and then took off to the bathroom; she was pretty loud about it too.

You are probably not that too far from where I live if you say Giant Eagle. We have those. I am not saying it doesn't happen. I just never witnessed it.

I don't think announcing their peeing is a big deal. I probably do the same sometimes. Announcing you have to take a shit is wild. Lol
