Why we announce it? Well it does not seem like a big deal, I can’t just walk out on you without saying anything so I tell you were I’m going... to pee.
It would not make us more comfortable, it would have no effect at all. The reason a girl might be nervous or comfortable is never because you just announced you have to pee.
Maybe you were being sarcastic when you asked the last question but I took it literally.

I think its because if we don't say what we need to do then the guys will end up following, and let's be honest; there is nothing nastier than a man watching a woman go for a piss. And vice versa. It's creepy, so if we announce we need a piss, dont follow.

It depends on the situation. If you're talking to someone or engaged in a group convo, people are gonna ask "where are you going" when you stand up anyways. If no ones really talking to you, then yeah, im not sure why a lot of girls do it.

Only some of the women in my life announce this, but all men in my life announce it. I wouldn't say it is limited to either gender. It is just how some people are, and those around you influence it.
