How does it make you feel when you realize a person or a stranger is staring at you?

When it's a stranger, and if I'm in a mischievous mood, I'll stare back, it's likely I will not refrain some smirking, in such a situation. When it's not a stranger, I just feel awkward or mildly annoyed. I have this not so serious hypothesis that staring seems either related to fear or lack of education. I said not so serious.

Like someone else said, "weirded out". An occasional stare would make me self conscious, a constant stare would make me leave the situation.
