Why are women perceived to be more empathetic than men when they actually aren't?

For women empathy is more natural and for men its something that needs to be learned.

But ofc there are tons of women who are going against their natural side for whatever reasons and then some men who have mastered being empathic so I guess it all depends

Because they generally are, but like anything, there are always exceptions to the rule.

That depends on where you're coming from really. I'd like to believe you're referring to women in the West. Here in the Middle East, women are more empathetic than men.
