I don't take public transport. So this is not much of a delimma for me. If I did take a bus or train or whatever it would depend on the situation. I'm young and can stamp. If it was an elderly gentleman or someone that had a disability then absolutely I would give up my seat. That is just common courtesy. This is all in the realm of me thinking about having to take said transport where I live which nothing is too far apart to reach. I know a place like NYC some people commute a long way. Even then if face with the same situation I would give it up. I'm capable to stand or at least stand and wait for another spot to sit if there was a person in need of Mt seat. I can think of one other scenario and that is a father with his young son or daughter. They need the spot more than I would.

As you can see most Women will not give up their seat to a Guy unless he has some some sort of disability, When most Men would happily give up their seat to a Women just simply because She is a Woman and it is being polite.

Most Women I think are just too scared of being too polite to the opposite sex.

I'd like to say I would because of Feminism, but I'm selfish lol. If someone was old or disabled or just looked like they needed the seat more then me I would.

Part of the problem I think is that I'd be concerned the guy would think I was flirting with him

Yeah, if the guy is older or walking with a cane or something of course I do. Any lady or gentleman knows to do that for someone in need. And if not, there is a clear rule (usually written on the seats towards the front of the train/bus) indicating that you should give your seat up for the elderly or handicapped.

I have. Whenever the situation calls for it. And I've had clearly disabled men not want to take it. Even with nudging. Offer stands regardless. I was raised like that.

I would gladly let a man take my seat, I have no problem with standing so I wouldn't give much second thought unless I was really tired.

I don't take public transport anymore and tbh I probably wouldn't give my seat up unless they asked me to. Going out of my way to talk to people is a nightmare
