I'm just curious what people think about parents being naked (non-sexual) around their kids and their kids only.

I was talking with a coworker yesterday and she was telling me that her kids see her naked all the time. She says she doesn't flaunt it, or strut around naked, but doesn't hide it. I feel like this is probably normal but another co-worker said that her kids have never even seen her in bra and panties.

I find it interesting that only Guys think it is unacceptable It is also interesting that Guys are the majority saying that Age makes a difference. Is that because Guys worry more about being viewed as a Pedophile or MAP (Minor Attracted Person)?

It's not only ok, essentially every study of the effects of open nudity at home report positive outcomes for body image, self confidence, healthy relationships, and less risky sexual activity.

At worst studies return neutral results. Kids who grow up with open nudity at home are more likely to have a positive self-image, and these effects are lifelong. Seeing "normal" adult bodies give them a more realistic view of the human body than mass media does. Seeing siblings go through puberty helps them know what to expect themselves.

In addition, people who grew up with open nudity at home tend to have healthier relationships as adults. This could be related to higher self image and body image as explained above, as well as a more realistic expectation for their partner's body, and less taboo around nudity in general.

However, the lower taboo around nudity doesn't translate into any increase in teenage sex, casual sex, or risky sex behaviors. In fact in many studies the opposite is true. There's also a decrease in teen pregnancy rates.

More anecdotally, I grew up in a nudist family. I spent time on nude beaches and at nudist resorts, and there was plenty of open nudity at home. I can assure you I was not scared for life. My experience was positive enough that I'm continuing it with my family.

When you are naked, and your children are watching (Cocomelon) Then it should be fine. Just don't stand in front of them with your butt in there face. (type stuff) Walk to the bathroom from the bathroom to your bedroom or get a drink. Then get some clothes on. Shorts and a shirt or bra and panties. Its easy and simple, If the kids are closer to understanding the difference between boys and girls. Then your son mint be looking at you in a different way if your naked around him. (not saying he would want you) gross. But boys will be curious

I'm completely ok with it. I've walked around nude since they have been around so it's not weird. My mom did the same thing and it's just not weird if you don't make it weird.

Things like telling where babies come from is much easier when you can just point. It's such a natural thing and we try to hide it.

Personally, I wouldn't purposely walk around fully nude in front of my kids at any age, but I wasn't hiding myself prudishly when I was breastfeeding either... and I think every parent has probably had their kid casually strut into the bathroom without knocking to sit for potty time as if there was not a thing wrong with that... You have to train your kid to understand "It's not ok to walk in on mommy or daddy during THEIR potty time."

Boy, if I had a penny for every time one of my kids rushed into the bathroom while I was showering to complain that the other one had said or done something to bug them... I'd be a freaking billionaire...

I would probably agree that seeing family naked is probably the best way to see and learn the differences when younger. There probably should be a point when it stops but it never should be hidden.

I don't think you will ever eliminate curiosity but I would say normal exposure to nudity would make nudity less sexual.

I have a group of 10 friends, we could all get naked together and it wouldn't turn sexual. It would be 10 people hanging out naked

Yes, I agree. I think that's pretty common in most families who are exposed to nudity, but their is always exceptions.

I was raised by a prudish mom, that I've never seen not fully dressed. I have a younger brother though and we've seen each other naked a lot and it isn't a big deal anymore except to our mom

Once stayed over at family friends and their mom was naked in the bathroom while I was brushing my teeth. Definitely odd when you're not used to it. I think I was about 7 years old. First time I saw pierced nipples lol.

Away from sexual situations there's nothing wrong with nudity. My wife and I have always gotten dressed and ready for bed in the same space as our son and not made a big thing about it. Since she passed away last year I've wondered if that would continue if I met someone else. I don't think I'd be as comfortable around a step child as I am with my son, simply because he's a part of me where a step child wouldn't be.

Parents should be able to make the decision themselves. What's acceptable for me might not work for another family. The only absolute "no" has to be regarding sex.

It's fine and completely healthy. I'm naked around my kids a lot and they just think it's normal. I also make sure they see me breastfeeding and see my period so they aren't shocked by this stuff when they grow up

At a certain age it has to stop especially between genders.

It's why social services won't let brothers and sisters share bedrooms especially when the boy is going through puberty because as my brother and I found out that brothers and sisters who share a room and a bed stuff is bound to happen

I am not sure about parental nudity, but my siblings (bothers and sisters) grew up partially nude in front of each other. I have had wear only bra and panties inside the house around my brothers and sisters. There were times when I walked around braless.

Like if a bedroom door is partially open or when my sister and I have to share a bathroom. It is no big deal and it is not like we walk around naked around the house. I think it depends. If you create the home environment where nudity as a while is normal, then it's totally acceptable. If you try to introduce it after after it not having been normal, then not so much

I don't know if it's normal but it's definitely my norm. Growing up my family was always naked or half dressed when we was home. I seen my mom naked plenty of time sister and older brother too and they've seen me. Nothing sexual but that's the way it was in my house

Of the two examples you've given the one who is more devil-may-care sounds the more wholesome. The "... never seen me in" seems a =biut too uptight to be healthy but im sure both are fine if kids seem fine

I'd say it's generally fine up to a certain age, then you would likely want to be more prudent after a certain point. It was pretty normal for my least one of my parents growing up.

My mom has always been a bit prudish, so Parental Nudity isn't something I'm accustomed too but my brother and I have never been shy and have seen each other multiple times since our youngest days up to and including last week
