Yes. Men generally dont hang around with someone they dont find attractive. Anyone who tells you they dont find you attractive but staying with you for your 'heart' and personality.. its complete BS. They always find something attractive first and then engage. Ofcourse, attractiveness is relative.

Girls also tend to bog down someone who is generally pretty without much of an effort. Pressing down increases if the prettier girl has less of a social standing or in your words "poor". Its less prevailent in cultures / conuntries where there are more prettier ladies naturally and demographics are not in favor of male. population.
