When do you know someone has broken the girl code?

I had this best friend who flirted with the guy I was talking to and liked a lot. Let's just say I told her how I felt with just saying 'hey I'm not sure if I'm so comfortable with what you're doing.'

I liked this guy for a while and she was aware of this, but I didn't want it to get in the way of our friendship. But then she pulled a huge bomb.

To put it simply she told me it didn't matter because I would never end up with him anyway.

Which hurt a lot because she was my best friend and I never knew she thought of me like that. I think that hurt me way more than her flirting with the guy I was talking to.

I can't help but wonder if this is breaking the girl code? Should I have never even told her how I felt? Should I never had told her about him? Is she the bad friend, or did I approach the situation wrong?

There are friends and people you are friendly with. I had this with an ex friend, she knew I liked my husband and she let me talk about him and how much i liked him to her as I was already great friends with him. She then used that information to start dating him. I had to wait 9 months for them to break up.
