Because she remembers you from the days past. She probably wanted to show you that she has some pictures of you and that they might make you happy to see those old pictures.
Don't have any high hopes that something may develop out of those messages. It is simply just courtesy on her part and nothing more really.
The question is why would you initiate a message in the first place? I presume that you are hoping for something more than just messages but I don't think that this will lead anywhere.
Unfortunately we work together and sometimes we have to do it.
