Do you know when it's time to talk and when it's time to keep quiet?

I think I'm a relatively socially aware guy, but I'm an extremely blunt person that tends to say what's on his mind with no filter and I have unintentionally hurt people in the past. I've gotten better and try to be more PC, but people are even softer now than back when I was a kid and I swear everyone seems to have some kinda depression or some disorder or syndrome, so it's hard walking on eggshells 24/7. Expecting people to be able to live to my standard and accept truth or take others opinions with a grain of salt is definitely not my  forte.

Oh yes.

It was a very delicate balance to learn as a kid

But I made the mistake of talking when I shouldn’t and staying silent when I should have said something, enough times to understand the difference.

Now I pick my moment.

And it makes all the difference between being a grounded and mature adult and being someone still fighting off childish tendencies

The time to talk is when communication is necessary to clarify and connect. The time to be silent is when communication is only required to validate and absorb. I am good with the first, not so much with the second.

Yes , I try to read the situation and know when speaking up adds value and when silence is wiser.  Sometimes listening or waiting is more powerful than saying anything at all.
