Anybody else had women come up to you real close while they are talking with you (even when you are a stranger to them)?

This has happened to me a couple of different times. Its like I smell good to them. They come up nearly touching me. Is this another way of flirting or something else?

My own personal definition of being close in this case would be anyone closer than 3 feet from me and to me, that is where the limit of my intimate sphere would start.

My reaction would be obviously to pull away from that person since he/she was not invited to share my intimate sphere. But I would also not hesitate to tell that person to keep a safe distance from me because I do abhor very close proximity with people I am not familiar with.

Basically, the only persons I do allow to come into my intimate sphere would be my immediate family.

It is obviously not always possible to prevent people from coming that close, mainly when you are in a congested public transportation or a place where large crowds gather. I tend to avoid those places whenever I can.

Thus, other than in congested places and with my family, no, it has not happened as an adult that I would allow anyone to break this invisible line that defines my intimate sphere.

I guess define real close. There is a point where someone I don't know is too close and crosses that mental line of invading my personal space. What that distance actually is for me I'm not really sure an exact number but know it when it happens. That gives me an uneasy feeling and I certainly wouldn't feel that was flirty. I think some of this view is from my job where I'm not supposed to be close to the people that I am talking to. Sometimes there is even a physical barrier between us for my safety. So there is a strong chance that my daily work translates over to non work interactions and effects them in a certain way given that I have learned to be cautious out of necessity about 8 hours a day.

yeah, but it depends on what you mean by "real close"

but... they've even talked right onto my ear, and coming from behind as I was sitting, I guess there's no closer than that, lol

Yes I’ve experienced it and done it without realizing it.. when I catch myself I move back lol
