Gym girl encounter. Do you think I blew it?

A gal that caught my attention because she was wearing pink compression shorts looked me in the eyes and started on the machine next to me. I had seen her earlier but did not realize how pretty she was in the face. She did not have headphones on but beauty always makes me nervous. I finished and went on to the next machine without speaking to her. For the rest of the time she was there we kept searching for each other and stealing glances very obviously. As she left to leave she turned her head and stared right at me again. Im not really a social person because of my experiences in life but i do notice that women who do this actually get really frustrated will me after multiple encounters similiar.

Whats your opinion on how i should have handled this differently? If she is a regular i know i will have at least several more chances.

I may not see her again but there are many others especially since the New Years resolution stuff.

A gym is a weird place to hit on women. With that said, if you think there is mutual interest. Just talk to her. "Hi, I've seen you here before. What are your working on today"? Keep it short. Go about your workout. If she passes by again... "hey how's your workout going"? Just short interactions. Friendly. Upbeat. If she engages and stops to chat, get to know her. Eventually ask her out. This stuff ain't hard.

It was the first time i had seen her. The winter extends my hours at work a bit so i have less time for excersize. Seahawks just won the Super Bowl so lots of discounts around town. Perfect for short dates.

Most women I know just want to be left alone at the gym so they can concentrate on their workout. But a quick hello would probably not have hurt... if she did nothing with it carry on with your workout.

Just be more assertive next time. It think her glances were inviting, but we girls usually wait for you guys to make a move. Just do it with respect. If we say no or show no interest, don't take it further. Just move on.

I mean, I think most people who go to the gym "zero in" on their workout, especially when they go alone. This might be why some people get irked when people approach them in the gym. I think just saying hi next time is a great way to gauge how she feels. If you see her again and say "Are you a regular here, how do you like this gym?" and she answers and keeps the conversation going, then she might be interested. But if she gives one word answers and appears to want to move on, then Id take the hint.

Ill never just approach a gal after one experience. I've had to many problems with overly flirtatious girls who end up being minors.
I did see her again on Friday in a cheer leader sweatshirt with glitter in her hair. They are not any universities near by only about 3 high schools. She didn't even hold eye contact with me this time.

Gyms can be a challenge. Some people just want to be left alone and focus on their workout. But if she was looking at you several times she might like what she sees. If you see her again it is ok to say hi and make some small talk and see how it goes.

Ironically I think you did this right. The gym is a versatile tricky place to pick up girls, and what can be interpreted as an opening can easily be a different signal. My rule of thumb is dont ask out a girl at a gym until you are having casual conversation with her. Maybe you're in a class together, maybe borrowing a machine, etc but wait until a conversation is organically happening.

Girls don’t bite (most of them anyway). Saying nothing says to her that you are not interested. Saying hello (at minimum) keeps the door open.

I do but you pause 2 munutes between sets so lots of people watching also. I like when girls look at me and i also know many girls do also. Im no bodybuilder just an average fit guy that works out so i dont get injured or sick.

You need to man up and speak, not that hard a simple hi or how are you doing is all it takes. I promise they will not beat you up, yell at you or put you down. After that maybe ask how her workout is going or something innocent for wherever else you might be. After the first time it will get easier, believe me the rewards will most likely be well worth that effort! There are a lot of wonderful Ladies out there and worth getting to know!

There was a girl once who a similiar situation. She would walk by me a lot while looking in to my eyes but always had headphones in. I waved hi to her finally. She took her headphones out and said hi then walked right past me for water. We never spoke again even though she watched for me. I think she was just on a trial for a week or maybe just visiting. Its an international chain gym.
