Not sure if clever is the right word. Maybe underestimate how devious and manipulative *some* women can be. So men aren't equipped to deal with it.

Men tend to think of women from the perspective of a man, which doesn't work. Women tend to think of men from the perspective of a woman. That doesn't work either.

I would put it differently. Men are not ones to ever even consider the convoluted crazy narratives women are constantly running in their heads alongside reality. Men tend to stay grounded in reality. We have no interest in women’s alternate realities.

I'm still not looking at evidences that gender would be an accurate descriptor of anything in this department. Resourcefulness and cunning, I've seen plenty of that as well as the opposite, for both men and women.

I have also seen plenty of aphorisms attempting to describe reality, hoping they nailed something important. Whereas, to me, they mostly described one's particular experience and representations instead.
