At What Age Does A Girl Become A Woman?

I see so many women on GaG who are over the age of 25 referring to themselves as a girl.
I don't consider a girl to be a girl past the age of 18-20 years old.
Why do these women still consider themselves to be a girl?

Funnily enough I've heard someone your age often called a girl, perhaps you have been called a girl yourself?

People seem to keep their terms in older life, and girlfriend is still common for older relationships lol.

But I think a girl becomes a woman in society when she is looking after her own child, how ever young that is.

Perhaps someone with young looks might be treated like a girl up to 30 and beyond and the same with some men, and probably consider themselves not matured accordingly.

It's a biological thing... not an age thing. I call it puberty. If they can make a baby, they have become something a trans woman will never be... a real woman.

I've gotten into many arguments on this website because culturally most people has adopted this idea that only age matters (because of laws which I respect and don't break). But you can tell they're retards when they call me a pedo when the definition of that is being attracted to prepubecent children... I get it though... programmed. Anything under 18 is a complete child in their eyes and then the magic happens because 18.

That's my biological argument... now I have a wisdom argument. This is where I will agree with the age philosophy, but due to how retarded people are... I would actually argue a woman doesn't really grow up until around age 25 and maybe even later than that. This requires being general though and not specific. Some people develop wisdom through harsh life training much faster than others... Alexander the Great walking along side Aristotle comes to mind... That was not a retarded kid. Not a woman either to fit the context of the woman thing, but I'm trying to point out how wisdom is developed and it's not age specific.

In the end... these people have been taught what to think rather than how to think... They'll fight with me and each other over details they don't fully understand.

If your personal metric for the transition stage of "becoming a woman" is set at the boundary of attaining a meaningful and productive degree of life wisdom, self knowledge and emotional intelligence, then I've met plenty of teenaged "women," and an even greater number of age 50+ "girls."

If your personal metric is arbitrarily set at the presence/absence of any implicit physical or behavioral characteristic, then it depends on which culture you ask: on the one extreme, some of the earliest (and most socially prosperous) human peoples had no concept whatsoever of puberty or other "intermediate" growth stages, so a "child" became a "woman" whenever she developed enough of a curiosity about sex to start pursuing and/or engaging in it. On the other extreme, you have paradoxically-regressive countries like the USA where sexual expression isn't considered a human right, and they just legally define it as the age of majority (18).

Interesting question, but in a world where a supermajority of adults don't even know what a fallacy is, you're unlikely to find many people who can productively discuss these kinds of issues. Give it a few thousand years.

I think a girl becomes a woman when she is able to bare children. She becomes an adult at 20. But the age at which a female matures can very greatly. All that being said I think what you are referring to is just the break down in the understanding of language and the actually definition of words. Language is heading back towards caveman grunting and nuance a sublety are being demolished as a result and words with drastically different meanings are being used congruently without any understanding of what is being done.

I think becoming a woman isn’t about a specific age , it’s about maturity, self awareness, and taking responsibility for your life and choices.

Some girls show remarkable wisdom and independence early, while others grow into it over time.

True adulthood is measured more by character and emotional growth than by years.

The term girly girl is used for adult women as well, I think that at 30 females become too old to be called a girl, because at 30 the female fertility is starting to fall.

That term doesn't stop just because of a certain age. You can be 80 something and still one of the girls in a group of friends. Have you not heard of the show The Golden Girls? I'm sure you have.

If a woman that's past 20 wants to still call herself a girl in non professional settings like GAG, I see nothing wrong with it.

I consider them to be girls throughout their twenties, or barely more than girls. But mostly late teens, early twenties are still very girlish.

They want to extend their youthfulness. In my locale it is not safe to omit girl for the under 60's.

In truth the under 28's haven't started thinking about adulting yet. The local bank is running courses for them.

Technically, yes.

Although the generifcation of the term is slow, so while it doesn't explicitly refer to any age group anymore, it's still not used for anyone over 50 very often.
