3 moBiologically: Puberty typically begins between ages 8 and 13, marked by menarche (the first menstrual period). This is a physical transition, but most would not consider a 12- or 13-year-old a “woman” in a social or emotional sense.
Legally: In most countries, the age of majority is 18. At this age, a person gains the legal rights and responsibilities of an adult, such as voting, signing contracts, and being tried as an adult in court.
Culturally: Many cultures have traditional rites of passage (like quinceañeras, sweet sixteens, or bat mitzvahs) that symbolically mark the transition. These ages vary from 12 to 21 depending on the tradition.
Psychologically & Socially: This is the most variable. Many people define becoming a woman not by an age, but by reaching milestones like financial independence, taking responsibility for oneself, developing emotional maturity, or navigating significant life experiences. For some, this happens at 18; for others, not until their late 20s or later.10 Reply

"If it bleeds, it can be slaughtered."
Now, a more literal variation of this was used in the 1987 movie "Predator": "If it bleeds, we can kill it." which Arnold Schwarzenegger's character says we they discover that the alien predator bleeds.
However, in the context that I mentioned, the implication is that if she can have a period, she can have sex. While I agree that, biologically, she can have sex and reproduce, I don't think a woman really is a woman (or man is a man) until about 25. You have your adult shit together in your brain by then.00 Reply
659 opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. Honestly, it varies from female to female. In some ways I still feel like a little girl. In others I feel like a full grown woman. If I was to generalize, I’d say around 30. But for some it could be at her first period, so like 12ish. Like, I’m in my late 30’s but still buy bras at PINK because they fit me well, even though it’s mostly marketed to girls in high school and college (like 15-22). I also have three kids, so mommy life and housewife duties feel very grown up. I guess what I’m saying is there’s no clear answer or definite age

3 moI don't think there is a set "age" but there is a continuum marked by a series of "rites of passage". I first started to consider myself as a woman and a girl when I got my first period. But even well into adulthood, I still would consider myself a girl. If was to say there was a specific time I no longer considered myself only a woman and no longer a girl, it would be shortly after I turned 40 when I was standing topless in a clinic with my boob pressed flat in an acrylic vice grip.

@AliceGregory Yes that would be a sort of "awakening" that you've entered adulthood!

805 opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. in my opinion, a person becomes an adult when they become responsible for themselves in all aspects of life. You make your own decisions, pay your own bills, set your own path in life, and accept responsibility for your own outcomes. This also includes mental and emotional regulation.
As long as you are relying on someone else for these things, you are not yet an adult, regardless of age.
And, so, in modern times, it's very difficult to name an age because it varies a lot from person to person - true for men and women alike. I've known adults at 18, and I've known children at 35. Age is not the difference - accepting personal responsibility is the difference.02 Reply
3 moIt's different for every woman. We are cyclical beings after all. I think womanhood is so much more than having your first period or having your first time in the bedroom. Womanhood is more about reaching a point of higher wisdom and self awareness around your feminine side including your body, mind and soul. So there's no specific age in my opinion.

Well if it doesn't happen soon I'm going to jump off my roof land flat footed see if that will drop any thing if not next step is Benji jumping when I get to the end of my bungee it should do something

Also, my niece was still acting like a dumb kid when she was 18 or 19. My friend's daughter was stuck in high school brain mode until she was 23

u 3 moI'll go with the brain... so, around the same for both men and women, between ages 24 and 26...
and also, that's around the time in which life and the world kind of really pushes you into adulting for real...10 Reply Well I turned 18 in November and just two months later in January I was in the US Navy boot camp. We were in class one day and we had a sister company that sat on one side and we sat on the other side. A young woman raised her hand and asked “what about boys and girls. . .” She was cut off and told its men and women that there are no girls and boys in the United States Navy

3 moOnce a girl gets her periods, she's becoming fertile, and thus in theory a woman, at least physically, because mental maturity is something more difficult to put an age upon. Case and person sensitive ;0)

u 3 moTell me your definition of "woman" and I'll answer the question.
26 Reply- 3 mo
A woman is a human with XX Chromosomes who has experienced Puberty
- 3 mo
So a 13 year old girl who has reached puberty is a woman?
- 3 mo
I would say be the technical definition I gave that answer would be yes
- 3 mo
@SarahP080106 Then I would say your technical definition leaves much to be desired. Is a 13 year old girl who has reached puberty sufficiently mature to consent to sex? Is she sufficiently mature to be permitted to drink alcohol? Is she old enough to decide whether she should smoke cigarettes? Should she have the right to decide to quit school and get married? Is someone who is so lacking in adult decision making abilities worthy of being called a woman?
- 3 mo
I think you are confusing Woman with Adult Female, because drinking and smoking and even consent for sex have been determined to be "adult" activities restricted by age in today's society. My definition mentions nothing of age or even mental/emotional development, just physical development allowing her to conceive a child.
- 3 mo
I am not confused about what it means to be a woman, or to be a man. However, not everyone has the same definitions, so i suggested that Asker tell us his definition.

3 moPhysically? 24.
Mentally/emotionally? It changes too much from person to person. I've known women who were kicking ass and taking names by 16. I've known more women who still acted like teenagers into their mid thirties.

Physically I'll say 20 a round 20

20 just has a smooth sound
- 3 mo
@NicholasofAustralia Makes sense. The reason I went older is because I've known a lot of women who develop during the college years. Like this one lady who started college with a rather slim, girlish figure and ended with the body of a pin-up model.
I suppose if you went by fertility, a girl becomes a woman by 16. That gets a bit gross though.
3K opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. There is no clear line between childhood and adulthood. In many jurisdictions, a person becomes a legal adult at 18. But there are 14-year-old adults and one well-known 79-year-old child.

I also said legally it's 18, to my mind physicality looks best at prime 20, round 20, however : the drinking age in America is 21. Here everything is 18, with sexual consent usually being 16 or up to 18 as Australian states are like America sort of - with some laws
Not when they have there first period because that can happen extremely young. So, I guess around 23-24 As for boys to men, 40 lol
