Some women get upset when someone calls them a lady.
Why is that?

It's kind of like @purplepoppy said. At times it can be said in a condescending way. I hated it when my parents and teachers would say it while disciplining and some girls might carry that feeling throughout their lives lol I never have. A boyfriend would always call me his "lady"... "what do you want to do tonight, my lady"? I loved it! Just a few days ago, a man held a door open for me and when I said, "thank you", he said "you're welcome, young lady". It's sweet and genuine. The question should be, why do so many YOUNG women hate being called "ma'am"?
It's these feminist women who don't like to be called a lady - probably because they aren't one!
I love it being called a lady, and being referred to as a lady. It's a compliment.
This one guy used to call me mi'lady. I liked it.
Because they're sluts and not pretending to be anything else. Gotta respect that.
A less triggering word might be matron, dowager, madame, hausfrau, grandmother, or even hag in certain cultures who revere elders.
In other cultures it is more appropriate to use Hotwife, Milf, Gilf, Sweet Cheeks, Hot Stuff, or Thick Chick.
Try using any of these and see if you get a better response.
The word lady, might sound overly impersonal, as if you are being reduced purely to your demands and not to your totality as person, or it might seem like, they are viewing you as an alien outsider and not as somebody who is a natural member of their group. It might also seem that people are suggesting you are past the age of fertility and beyond the normal concerns that other people have.
They think it sounds old like I’m always calling every female girl No matter how old they are. Hey girls I even call my former pets girls that’s how we’re brought up. Nobody’s gonna say hey woman or lady because it sounds old. They’re gonna say the girls where are the girls at or let’s call the girls
Hard to say. I've never been mad at it. And don't recall seeing anyone be mad at it either
Hopefully they or you never frown on being called a Woman ☹️🙁
I think it might be something to do with who's saying it and context. It can sound patronising if used incorrectly, it's not so much what you say but how you say it.
i haven't noticed anyone get upset by being called a lady where i live!!🤔 so im not sure why they would get upset, maybee because it sounds "old" ?😅🤔
Or maybe because they should call you senorita 😄
Maybe they hate Tom Jones for some reason? 🤷♂️
https://www.youtube.com/embed/x8G4xrYfWmwIt implied outdated gender roles. Also, in my case, because of my age, when someone calls me young lady they’re usually not saying it to be nice.
no but lady means 'fancy etiquete'. not housewife!
@strateguy632 interesting! I hadn’t thought of it that way. Maybe it is meant as a compliment.
A few ladies have told me to not call them ma'am. I've never called any woman lady, only said "ladies" if they're in a group.
@AviatorTom I’m not sure, I think it’s a good way to show respect
I don't get upset but it's sounds "old" so maybe thats why some women get upset...
no good reason just complaining like a karen to control others.
I have never heard of any female being upset about that.
I don't know but I know when a stranger calls me chief it annoys me and I don't know why lol.
It's modern deluded women who live for victimhood
I like it when someone refers to me as a lady.
Never seen or heard any female getting upset by being called a lady.
A woman who thinks like that is a moron because personally when i say lady it shows respect to a woman, so a woman who hates this word means that she doesn't like to be respected by others...
Easy, because some women are not lady-like, they are more tomboyish... or ladette... generally speaking - girls of action. Lady sounds like a sissy to them.
We are to make No assumptions about their superior presence in the physical realm.
🙄
😂
I don’t understand it either. It’s like calling me a gentleman. I take that as a compliment
@sage2021 is tight on target. Nothing more to say.
Right on target!
Karen's lol
Because they are trannies.
