Do you find it weird when a guy randomly compliments you?

So I go to college, and am single and an all around nice guy. I often see girls wearing cool outfits, hats, jewelry, whatever... But I rarely say anything because I don't want to seem creepy.

So my question is what are some acceptable and /or unacceptable types of compliments to randomly give. (I also don't want to give off the vibe that I'm gay, so keep that in mind.)

I am single, and wouldn't mind meeting more women, but that's beside the point. I really just enjoy being nice and trying to spread some love around whenever I can, so I'm not necessarily trying to hit on anyone.

Looks shouldn't matter! Why does a guy have to be hot to give you a compliment?

That's all a matter of taste anyway, assume I'm 100% Average looking.


I'd never say anything sexual to a stranger unless it was an obvious joke. It's a bad first impression.

If you are a masculine man complimenting a girl, we will be flattered. We put a lot of effort in to look good (most of the time) and it's nice for someone to notice. Only bitchy girls will be creeped out, given that you compliment in a non creepy way.

I wouldn't suggest complimenting a girls body in a sexual way. But you can always compliment a girl on what she's wearing by saying, "I love that shirt/color on you- it really compliments your eyes" or something like that. Or pump it up with humor or say, "Hey, sick hat" or "beautiful necklace" etc.

It's especially nice to get complimented on facial features or something that stand out to you (if you like a girl). I had a guy compliment my eyes all the time, and though I thought they were one of my best features before, he made them feel like treasured gems ^^

Yea, we're on the same page. I leave physical looks out of it unless I'm genuinely interested (not just lust), and notice the little things like jewelry and tattoos and all that. Good answer though. Any examples of what's creepy?

If you seem really serious and stare while you give a compliment, or after- that's creepy.

Some girls are not going to see your compliments as being nice/trying to spread love as they don't care what strangers think.

Some girls are not going to see your compliments as being nice/trying to spread love but rather as trying to hit on them.

No, I like it especially if he is attractive and keeps on talking to me. I think more guys should be that way and stop worrying that a girl will think they are gay because most women can tell if a man is gay or not OR at least I can tell.

I'm not afraid of someone thinking I'm gay, I'm afraid of presenting myself in a way that makes it unclear. Des that make sense? I don't care if a stranger describes me as gay to her friend, but if we have a conversation, or even exchange numbers, I want to avoid that misunderstanding. Thanks for your thoughts.

if he keeps talking to me, id be stoked if he was hot, because by then I know he's interested. I think its a great way to meet women. don't compliment boobs tho. also compliment something that isn't too neutral but isn't too obvious.

Assume not interested and average looking... To me, neutral doesn't seem genuine, and when passing a stranger it must be kind of obvious or it won't be noticed.

well it makes me feel better about myself when he compliments me but if he isn't as attractive as I wanted him to be that would be like automatically putting yourself in the 'never to be f***ed' category of guys. like if I had gotten to know you and you seemed confident and then you did that then I might be down with you liking me

Nah. Complement are sweet ! They bring a smile to a girls face. Now if a cashier at a local drugstore randomly asks you out while checking out then that is wired and creepy. Don't laugh it happened to me on Friday. Lol

Dont say anything like I love your shirt, bag, etc. you will sound gay. Say something like your gorgeous, or your cute, I like what your wearing today it looks good on you. Keep it simple, cause if they don't know your personality then sometimes your compliment can come on as gay or creepy.

I like the keep it simple part of that. Not likely to compliment on beauty unless there's potential for more, mainly just clothes/accessories/body art for strangers. Any more advice on not being creepy? Examples?

Compliments are nice so long as they're normal and sweet... But say guys who like your eyeballs, read your palm or some other creepy comment are NOT cool. those should get arrested.

Umm you know you should give some in order to the person to want more! But never be too nice..it's a total turn off
