How to escalate with a shy girl?

We've known each other for a couple years, but we haven't really talked until recently. We were in the same class a couple years ago and she laughed at most things I said, but since then we haven't interacted because, even though she's very good-looking, she hangs around her friends, even at parties, and doesn't really go around and talk to people.

But we're in the same class again and recently, she's made side comments to me occasionally/walked around me and then a couple days ago, we had our first real conversation and I had her laughing a lot. Plus I said something which surely made her know I was hitting on her.

She's shy, though, and I have no idea how to go about escalating things.

As a shy girl myself, I say continue to talk to her and make her comfortable. Most reserved people do not like when people rush things, it is hard enough for them as it is to interact with new people because it drains them. When you establish some kind of rapport with her, try to ask her out. Usually reserved girls are over looked because they don't make themselves known like the more outgoing girls, but reserved girls are just as happy to go out with a great guy and have fun and get out of their comfort zone a little bit.

To avoid being in the friend zone, keep the conversation away from personal problems as you are getting to know here. Keep nice lingering eye contact, lightly touch her (not toooooo much though), and get to know her interests, that way it would be easier to know what kind of date she will enjoy. Or just ask her out, after a few weeks. It's complicated thing, I know you guys get confused with us. If you wait too long, you'll be her best BFF forever like guy friends I have/had.

just keep doing it, become familiar in her life, try to form a friendship so she really feels comfortable around you and trusts you so that she can open up to you more easily and then shell finally show you her real personality :)

thats how I am I'm very shy around guys but once I trust them and learn that they like me and like talking to me I get really comfortable with them and open up more

you wont, friendship is the key to all relationships its how to get to know someone you can still flirt too be friendly-flirty and then as soon as you see her get more comfortable you can ask her out

I'd say just keep trying to engage in convo, laughing and stuff. If something's going to happen, it should happen naturally. Maybe after a few more convo's, ask her out.
