How to deal with a shy girl?

I currently like a shy girl at work, but the progress has been fairly slow since we met in about February this year. We work in different departments so we rarely see eachother nor get a chance to talk. For a while all we really did was make eye contact and smile at eachother when we saw eachother. And not too long ago, we did started small talk with things like "hi, how are you" and mostly about it, but its been consistent yet it hasn't gone much further than that.

She always responds positively to this though, usually with a nice smile. We had a good chance to chat recently in the break room. She initiated the greeting by saying "hi how are you", but after that interaction went by, nothing else was said as she did her thing, eating a roll.

How can i take things further and make more good progress? and how should i go about it? Should i continue to take it slow?

I have been classified as “shy” by a few friends and family members although I would like to say that I am just quiet. As someone who apparently appears shy, I would say that smiling at her a TON would be your best bet. Waving at almost every chance, smiling and acknowledging her presence will make her realize that you actually WANT to be around her, and maybe she will want to spend more time with you outside of work

It doesn't sound to me like she's shy, just professional and not really opening up for any further pursuit.

You may not have a path forward, there.

Try asking her to go for a coffee nearby if you really want.

Perhaps next time ask a question that requires a bit more of an answer from her. Maybe something like, "So what do you have planned for the weekend?"

Honestly... you're NOT going to get far if you slow it down. All it's doing is adding suspense for you. And I don't know about you, but I HATE being left in suspense. You had mentioned that she's shy. Then there ya go: it's up to you to make the move. Because I know for a FACT she ain't gon move single muscle in that shy face of hers. Go for it buddy, but for god's sake, PLEASE don't tell me you're shy too, cuz I really won't know how to help ya there.
