Are guys always clumsy/nervous around the girl they're attracted to?

Anonymous
I like a guy who always gets the drops or fumbles around with stuff when I'm around. His friends presume he doesn't like me because I make him nervous -- why else will this even-tempered fellow suddenly seem so flustered and out of sorts? A friend recently said that he is clumsy because he likes me and it's all he can do to just keep breathing evenly once I enter the room.

Honestly, I am not sure either way. I just know that he acts visibly different around me than around other people. He's very kind and generous with his time, but doesn't generally have a lot of free time. Others have told me that he's very brusque and authoritative with them. When I heard this, I said it sounded uncharacteristic because this guy is such a sweetie. If only you were there to see the raised eyebrow of the person listening to me say that.

What's going on, folks? I'm stumped! If he hates my guts, I'll try to avoid being around him. If he likes me, what is appropriate for me to do about it (since we sort of work together)?
