For what reasons do women see men as low value?

I've hear that high value or value of a guy is a big part of the attraction for a girl. Girls think about that for a second and maybe factor in what deems a guy high value to low value.

Also maybe factor in why this is such an important issue? for my understanding.

Higher value usually means someone who is high in society. Looked up too, has money and status. Status is pretty much what were talking about.

Have you ever dismissed a guy because he didn't have status?

This high and low value factor has always been a big part of relationships. In most political-type marriages, usually one marries for status and not for qualities that define the "inner" man. The concept of "I'll marry a rich man and then I won't have to work another day in my life" is a very idealistic way of thinking that some women still adopt. Let's face it: nobody likes working. There's a certain air of romanticism surrounding money and status, popularized through the media. Media has dictated that happiness is largely based on the material. While I personally don't find this to be true, being that a number of famous and wealthy people did not find happiness in wealth or status, it doesn't mean that everyone thinks so. I think it's sad if a woman were to dismiss a guy solely based on his status, but at the same time, I can understand it. What kind of life could a woman and (future children) hope to live with an under-achieving man whose only job is at McDonald's? The allure of a richer man/higher value man is that he can provide and let her fantasies become a reality. It's a second/maybe factor because it's obvious that there isn't an abundance of high-value men lying around. Many women settle because they know that for them, average is a reality, but hey--they can dream.

I don't really recall ever seeing someone as "low value." Someone might be unappealing to me, but that doesn't mean they don't have value :P But that's probably because I don't give a crap about status. I make my own money, so his money means nothing. Being popular/admired is even less important, since I actually prefer to date loners who kind of stay out of the center of attention.

I don't really use those terms. I dismiss men who have low self-esteem, fail to clean their room, house, etc when they invite me over, are socially awkward, lazy, mamas boy, and no goals in life.

That's true for some girls but not all. The highest value a man receives in my eyes is bieng a good person, father, husband and son. Doesn't matter if he works at McDonald's or on wallstreet.
