What does it mean when a girl tries to make you "change"?

This girl I met months ago now seems to want to try and "change" my personality (for the good, I guess). I'm a guy who likes to do things my way and usually on my own and when things don't go the way I want them to go, it just bothers me to no end.

Well, this girl tries to make me ser the world isn't against me, gives me a lot of advice and even puts up with my attitude when things aren't going my way. The thing is that she seriously seems to care and kinda gets upset when I don't act the way she "wants" me to act. Why is she like this? She tells me (I don't know if jokingly or seriously) that she isn't my friend and yet she cares about how I act and the consequences of my actions even more than I do sometimes, so what is up with her? Do people spend time (a lot) giving advice to people who aren't friends?

I read what you actually wrote, and I think what she is doing is good. She isn't trying to change your personality, she's trying to help you get rid of some really negative habits that you don't think to change. If a girl tried to get a guy to stop doing drugs, she isn't changing his personality, she's helping him break a bad habit. If she's trying to change things that you do to help you avoid bad consequences, then it's for the best!

Well, I think that wanting to do things on your own without any help isn't a bad habit per se, its just that I like doing things a certain way. I know she means well, I have a bit of a bad temper and she has helped me with that so now its more controllable. It is my personality though. I make sarcastic comments, act immaturely at times and then she starts the sermon like if she was my mom. She doesn't seem to have a problem when other people do the exact same thing I do though...

Though it could seem like you're acting the same, you could sound completely different to other people than you intend to. She cares about you so she doesn't want you getting yourself in trouble. And doing things on your own isn't bad, but it also depends on what your doing and how your doing it that could make it bad. If she means well, let her keep it up, but talk to her about how you feel and maybe she'll ease up on it.

It means she really wants things to work with you. She only wants to be with you. She just thinks things would go smoother and you both would be happier and you changed some things...
