Why does this girl at work smirk at me every time she walks past me?

If she is purposely walking past you, as in, there are quicker ways for her to get where she needs to but she insists on walking past you, then she likes you.

However, I smirk at people often because it is more polite than not making any kind of eye contact or aknowledging them.

not really no. she doesn't seem like she talks to people unless they talk to her first

If someone only left a dollar as a tip, she was probably annoyed and didn't even want to accept it. She'd rather give it away that take someone's $1 tip.

its kinda rare to get a tip where I work though lol. most people don't tip

If this is the only incidence then I wouldn't look too far into it. If she starts talking to you more and whatnot, then I would maybe look into it, but for now, wait until she shows a little bit more.
