Do you find it annoying when Judge Judy is always telling people "um" is not an answer? Which is just a habit!

Question

The average person is gonna say "um", because they're use to saying it every since they been in this world. Judge Judy is the only judge that makes a mountain out of a mole. I hate it when she's so naive like think. She wrongfully thinking, when people are saying "um", they're trying to come up with a lie, but that's not necessary the case.

If she hated it when I said "um", I'm gonna say um anyway, just to show her, that she can't tell me how to talk. She shouldn't discriminate against people that talk or have body language different than her.

She can tell you to either respect her court or to respect the door as you're leaving lol.

I watch the show and love it. When people go on their "um" streaks, it's usually after they've clearly been called out on some inconsistency, lie, stupidity, etc...and "um" is a delay to figure out what you're going to say next. She's been a judge for a long time and doesn't want people to have that opportunity to lie to her to try and help their case. She wants a straight answer and not all this extra stuff she's not asking about, which is also where I hear people give their "um's" at.

It's just an intimidation tactic.  Law enforcement personnel use it all the time.  They try to rush you so you can't think and just blurt things out, hoping the thing you blurt out will be a confession.  It's pretty dirty and underhanded if you ask me.  We're talking about the law and self incrimination.  The next few words out of your mouth can be life changing.  I'm going to talk all the damn time I want to mold my answer and no one is going to rush me.  If saying "Uhm" is my chosen stall tactic, I will say "uhm" as many times as I damn well please.

A court, even one on tv, is a professional setting. She's looking to give out judgement and help the situation. "Um's" are a sign of a lack in professionalism and further more in preparedness. I would be annoyed at it as well and "um" is not an answer.

If it bothers you so much, may I suggest you not watch it?

First off, Judge Judy is one of my favorite shows lol. Not only is saying "um" unprofessional in the courtroom setting, but I think she also perceives that the person is trying to buy time and come up with a lie as opposed to telling the story straight through.

I hate that too. she's such a bitch I hate her. She's really nasty disrespectful, and a lot of the times she already has decided whether you're gonna win the case or not based on which one of them she dislikes the most.

No but she's one helluva bitch. Her rulings aren't fair part of the time. It's more her judgment and not so much the law. It's arbitration, not real court (because most people can't afford real court).

I like how people keep using the word "unprofessional."  The people who say "um" aren't even professionals in the first place.  They're people in small claims court.
